In-house web platform

An In-house web platform is platform for business use within an organization. It is usualy developed by the organization itself or by someone else, or it could be acquired. It may later become available for commercial use upon discretion of the developing organization.

The need to develop such website may arise depending on many circumstances which may be non-availability of the service in the market, potentiality or ability of the corporation to develop such service or to customize a website based on the corporate organization's need.

Case Study : PLATAL by Ixiade

Design a work platform that allows Ixiade's teams to monitor and correct automatic text classification using their in-house text analysis technology (API)

Text analysis platform

This software allows Ixiade's teams to conduct text analysis and to do an automatic clasification that they would later correct.

Administrators can manage projects and mitigate tasks between collaborators

Using the internal project management tool we created, administrators can assign classification tasks and monitor the progress of these tasks.

Senior users can review the text classification of juniors

Senior analysts can check on the results junior analysts gave and verify their text classification.

Juniors have acess to a learning centre

Junior users benefit from an educational follow-up by senior users through a learning center.

Brief

Ixiade is a provider of strategy, research and design agency that intended to places the user experience at the center of the innovation process.

Doriane Simonnet, Manager at Ixiade contacted me in order to design a platform that would allow their team to analyse and classify text like user interviews or customer feedback as an exemple.

When I started working with them, they had already developed a text analysis API in Javascript and they wanted to make that technology available to their teams and, later, to other users through a Saas offer.

Steps of the project

Step 1 - User flows

Step 2 - Low fidelity wireframes & clickable prototype

Step 3 - High fidelity wireframes

Step 4 - User stories

Step 5 - Design system & handoff

User Groups

I did the design of their web platform for desktop, based on the needs of 4 groups of users.
All users are from de TAL team at Ixiade. TAL is the french acronyme for Automatic Language Processing (ALP).

Step 1 - User Flows

I created an user flow diagram, based on the list of screens and features Ixiade gave me in the design specifications. I then sent them those user flows so we can see how we would progress through the screens and functionalities through time.

Step 2 - Low fidelity wireframes & clickable protoype

After the communication and validation of user flows, I translated the screens and functionnalities into low fidelity wireframes. I then built a prototype in Invision that Ixiade could test with a focus group of users in their teams.

Step 3 - High fidelity wireframes

Once the low fidelity wireframes were validated by the manager, I added style (logo, color, typography, illustrations).

Step 6 - User story diagram

In order to support the development team, I created an user story diagram on whimsical so developers would know in which order to develop the screens.

Step 7 - Design system

I've built a design system using Invision.

InVision Design System Manager (DSM) is the design system platform for collaborative teams, bringing designers, developers, and stakeholders into a unified workflow.

Conclusion

It was interesting to learn that

I enjoyed turning the complexity of the design brief into a tool that is useful.

It was interesting as a UI UX designer to work on a tool UX designer, researchers would use.
